Abstract

The silicotungstic acid catalyzed microwave assisted synthesis of substituted 4H-pyrimido[2,1-b]thiazole and 4H-pyrimido[2,1-b]benzothiazole derivatives was achieved by one-pot multi-component reaction of 2-aminothiazole or 2-aminobenzthiazole, aldehyde and ethyl acetoacetate under solvent-free condition. A simple, rapid and environmental friendly protocol, good yields and easy work-up are some advantages of this protocol. The structures of the synthesized compounds were established by FT-IR, 1H NMR and mass spectral data.
