Abstract

The aim of this study was complexation of levofloxacin with iron, calcium, copper and ammonium salts. The formation of the metal complexes were confirmed by TLC and FT-IR. The newly formed metal complexes showed characteristics thermochemical behaviours such as differential scanning calorimetric and thermo gravimetric properties along with bioactivity. Additionally, the synthesized metal complexes have shown some extents of antimicrobial activities. It is concluded that the potentiality of metal-levofloxacin complexes are due to the action and presence of siderophores within bacterial cells.
