Abstract
One steroidal alkaloid glycoside compound as b2-solanin or solanid-5-ene-(1’®3)-b-D-galactopyranosyl-(1”®3)-b-D-glucopyranoside has been isolated from the fruits of an Indonesian medicinal plant, Solanum blumei Nees ex Blume (Solanaceae). The structure of the compound was identified by using spectral data analysis viz., ultraviolet, infrared, 1D NMR (1H-, 13C- and DEPT), 2D NMR (COSY, HMQC and HMBC) and mass spectra. The compound has toxicity with LC50 value 17.97 μg/mL by Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT) method. The compound considered as highly toxic because it has LC50 < 30 μg/mL.
