Abstract
Some biologically potent Mannich bases have been prepared from 2-butanone using aromatic aldehydes and aromatic amine in ethanol under acidic conditions. The synthesized Mannich bases were purified through standard chromatographic techniques. The geometry of the novel Mannich bases were established by various spectroscopic techniques like 1H NMR, mass and IR spectroscopy. Finally these bases were exposed to various microorganisms in order to establish their bioactivity.
