Abstract
Oxidation reactions with environmentally acceptable oxidants such as molecular oxygen and hydrogen peroxide have been intensively studied. Recently, catalytic H2O2 oxidations of aromatic N-heterocyclic compounds to their corresponding N-oxides employing a biomimetic manganese porphyrin or methyltrioxorhenium as catalyst were reported. Other oxidants employed in the oxidation of tertiary amines include peracids, magnesium monoperphthalate, 2-sulfonyloxaziridines, dioxiranes, etc.
