Tetramer Crystal Structure of Thiophene-2-carboxylic Acid

Abstract
The structure of thiophene-2-carboxylic acid (m.f. C20H16O8S4) was studied by X-ray diffraction. The crystals are orthorhombic, space group Pna2(1) with a = 10.106(2), b = 14.299(3), c = 16.092(3) Å, a = 90.00, b = 90, g = 90.00º, V = 2325.5(8) Å3, Z = 4, F(000) = 1056, Dc = 1.464 g/cm3, μ = 0.452 cm-1, the final R = 0.0481 and wR = 0.1358. A total of 16217 reflections were collected, of which 3849 were independent (Rint = 0.0429).
