Synthesis and Crystal Structure of Binuclear Ni(II) Complex with Benzoic Acid and Tetramethylethylenediamine

Abstract
A new nickel(II) complex [Ni2(ba)3Cl(tmen)2(H2O)] (1), where ba = benzoate, tmen = tetramethylethylenediamine, was synthesized and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal is monoclinic, space group P121/n with cell dimensions of a = 16.333(2), b = 12.1117(12), c = 18.784(2) Å, a = 90, b = 105.744(4) and g = 90°. The crystal structure analysis shows that each nickel(II) atom is six coordinated in a distorted octahedral environment.
