Spectrophotometric Determination of Sitagliptin in Tablets Formulations

Abstract
A simple, rapid and sensitive spectrophotometric method for the determination of sitagliptin was developed. The method is based on the proton transfer reaction with quinalizarin (Quiz) in dimethyl sulphoxide to form a violet product showing maximum absorbance at 580 nm with molar absorptivity of 10561.16 L mol-1 cm-1. The method follows Beer's law over the concentration range 15-65 μg/mL. The recovery of the method is between 99.520-101.856 % and the relative standard deviation (RSD) of the method is less than 1. 439 %. The method was successfully applied for the determination of sitagliptin in tablets formulations.
