Isolation and Spectral Assignments of Lipoxygenase Inhibiting Triterpene from Solanum surrattense

Abstract
A lipoxygenase inhibiting triterpene have been isolated for the first time from the ethyl acetate soluble fraction of whole plant of Solanum surrattense and the structure was assigned on the basis of 1D (1H NMR, 13C NMR, DEPT, NOE) and 2D NMR (HMBC, HMQC, COSY, NOESY) experiments. The biological potential of the isolated compound was performed against lipoxygenase enzyme using baicalein as a positive control.
