Phytochemical Investigation of Bioactive Extract from Endemic Medicinal Plant Limoniastrum feei (Girard) Batt (Plumbaginaceae)
Asian Journal of Chemistry,
Vol. 26 No. 2 (2014): Vol 26 Issue 2
Abstract
The phytochemical investigation of bioactive extract of aerial part of Limoniastrum feei led to isolation of eleven polyphenol compounds, with two major constituents obtained from the bioactive extract of stems part, identified as glucosylated flavonoids: 3-O-(glucoside-6"-malonyl, 2"-ramnosyl)-7,4',5'-trimethoxy-3-hydroxy flavonol and tetraacetate 7,8-dihydroxy-4'- methoxyisoflavone 8-O-b-glucopyranoside. The compounds were isolated for the first time from the plant extracts by column chromatography and prep-HPLC and structural elucidation was carried out on the basis of their spectral analysis.
