Zinc ferrite (ZnFe2O4) nanoparticles were prepared by a cost effective combustion method using glycine as a fuel. Polyvinyl alcohol was used as a stabilizing agent. The crystal structure and the phase purity of the synthesized product was characterized by X-ray diffraction. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analysis confirmed the presence of stabilizing agent. An elongated spherical morphology was observed from scanning electron microscopy images for both the pure and polyvinyl alcohol coated ZnFe2O4 nanoparticles. Magnetic measurements of the synthesized products showed the super paramagnetic behaviour.
