Abstract
A new coordination compound of magnesium(II) [Mg(H2O)6]·(L)2·(H2O)2 [L = N-p-tolysulfonyl-glycinate] was synthesized by the reaction of magnesium chloride hexahydrate with N-p-tolysulfonyl-glycine in the CH3CH2OH/H2O (v:v = 5:1). It was characterized by elemental analysis, IR and X-ray single crystal diffraction analysis. The crystal of the present coordination compound [Mg(H2O)6]·(L)2·(H2O)2 belongs to triclinic, space group P-1 with a = 0.57192(11) nm, b = 0.57717(12) nm, c = 2.2564(5) nm, a = 91.90(3)º, b = 96.28(3)º, g = 104.04(3)º, V = 0. 7168(2) nm3, Z = 1, Dc = 1.448 Mg m-3, μ = 0.281 mm-1, F(000) = 330 and final R1 = 0.0668, wR2 = 0.1863. The complex comprises a six-coordinated magnesium(II) center, with a O6 distorted octahedron coordination environment. The molecules are connected by hydrogen bonds and p-p stacking to form one dimensional chain structure.
