Abstract
The insecticidal activity of O-(alkyl benzimidazoyl-2)-phosphorate and phosphorothioates have been evaluated against Periplenata amricana and the compounds are found to be strongly fatal for them. These compounds were synthesized by reacting the solution of 2-hydroxy alkyl benzimidazoles in acetone/tetrahydrofuran with phosphoryl chloride/thiopbosphoryl chloride in the presence of potassium hydrogen carbonate. All the synthesized compounds were characterised by elemental analysis, TLC, IR, NMR and mass spectral studies.
