Abstract
New platinum (II) complexes of the general formula cis-[PtLL'X2], where L = harmaline, harmine; L' = DMSO, 3,5-dimethylpyrazole, cyclohexylamine and X2 = Cl2, O2(CO)2C-CH2CH2CH2CH2, C2O4 have been prepared as analogue to so called cisplatin, carboplatin (paraplatin) and oxaliplatin, respectively. These complexes have been characterized physico-chemically and spectroscopically. The cytotoxic activities of these complexes have been studied against Hep-2, Hela, RD, L20B, BGM and Vero cell lines using the MTT-colorimetric assay. These activities were compared with cytotoxic activities of three reference standards; the cisplatin, carboplatin and oxaliplatin complexes. The significance of these results is discussed.
