Abstract
2-Hydroxy-4-n-butoxyacetophenone, 2-hydroxy-4-n-butoxypropiophenone.
2-hydroxy-4-n-butoxy-5-nitroaeetophenone. 2-hydroxy-4-n-butoxy-5-nitropropiphenone.
2-hydroxy-4-n-butoxyacetophenone ethylenediamine and
2-hydroxy-4-n-butoxyacetophenone thiosemiearbazone have been used as
indicators for the direct diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid (DTPA) titration
for Fe(lll). Fe(lll) can be quantitatively detetmined with an error of
measurement of ≤±o.4% from solutions containing 280 ppm or more of
iron in the pH range 1.5-3.0, A number of diverse ions can be tolerated
but Ca2+, Ba2+, Sr2+, Cu2+, Zn2+ phosphate, tatlrate, vanadate, oxalate and
citrate interfered. The indicators can also he used for determination of iron
present in pharmaceuticals preparations.
