Abstract
Some styryl chain substituted benzothiazolylium asymmetric
cyanines (SCCBAC) have been synthesised by the catalytic condensation
of some complex auxpchromic chalcones with diversely
substituted 2-methyl benzothiazolylium ethiodides. The effects of
electron donor and acceptor substituent on chromophoric chain and
the benzothiazolylium unit were studied on their absorption maxima
and their antimicrobial activity was investigated.
