Abstract
Quantitative complex equilibrium reactions of La3+, Ce3+, Pr3+, Nd3+, Sm3+, and Eu3+ with o-aminophenol (HA) (and catechol (H2B) involving the formation of binary complexes MA2+, MA22+, MA3, MB+, MB2–, MB33+, (where M = La3+, Ce3+, Pr3+, Nd3+, Sm3+, and Eu3+) and the ternary complexes MAB, MA2B–, MB2A2- due to simultaneous coordination of A– and B2- with the metal in, have been studied at 25 ºC and an ionic strength of 0.10 M KNO3. The corresponding equilibrium constants calculated by the methods reported earlier by Nayan and Dey, have been discussed.
