Abstract
A new triterpenoidal saponin has been isolated from the roots of Spondias mangifera Willd. Its structure was determined as echinocystic acid 3-O-β-D-galactopyranosyl-(1→5)-O-β-D-xylofuranoside on the basis of chemical and spectral studies.
