Abstract
The effect of substituents on the periodate oxidation of anilineshas been studied in acetone-water medium. The validity of variouslinear free energy relationships has been tested and an attempt hasbeen made to correlate the findings with the expected mechanismfor this reaction series. Some of the results have been found to differfrom the earlier works.
