Abstract
Anion exchange separation of transition metal ions has beenstudied in aqueous sodium nitrite and aqueous acetone sodium nitritemedia using Dowex-1 x 8 in nitrate form. The useful separationsperformed are Zn(Il) Hg(Il); Cd(Il)-Hg(Il), Mn(Il)-Hg(Il);Ni(Il)-Hg(Il); Co(Il)-Hg(Il), Cu(II)-Hg(Il) Ag(l)-Hg(Il) andMn(II)-Cd(II). The use of acetone as a water miscible less polarmedium is found to increase the distribution values in most of thecases.
