Vibrational Spectra and Analysis of Tryptophan

Abstract
The Fourier transfonn infrared and the Fourier transfonn Raman
spectra of tryptophan amino acid were recorded from 4000-400
cm–1 and 4000-100 cm–1 respectively. The spectra were analysed
on the basis of fundamentals and the frequencies were assigned to
various modes of vibration. Further, based on the present assignment,
a partial vibrational analysis was carried out for this molecule
and the results are briefly discussed.
