Abstract
A series of 2-anilinobenzimidazoles were derived from 2-chlorobenzimidazole.
The condensation of methyl-1-benzyl-4-oxo-3-piperidinecarboxylate
with 1,2-diamino-3,4-dimethoxybenzone in
presence of xylene yielded dimethoxybenzimidazolinone compound,
which was treated with phosphorous oxychloride to get
2-chlorobenzimidazole. This was reacted with anilines in presence
of catalytic amount of dimethylformamide and concentrated hydrochloric
acid yields 2-anilinobenzimidazoles.
