Abstract
A series of substituted arylthioureas have been prepared and their antimicrobial activity evaluated. All the compounds were tested for antimicrobial activity against Escheria coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (bacterial species) and Candida albicans, Aspergillus niger and Microsporum gypseum (fungal species). The structures of the synthesized compounds have been confirmed on the basis of their elemental analysis and spectral data. p-Bromophenyl and p-chlorophenyl thioureas were found to be most active against all the species tested.
