Abstract
Aryl semicarbazones and thiosemicarbazones have been synthesized by the condensation of aromatic carbonyl compounds with semicarbazide and thioscmicarbazide compounds respectively. The compounds have been characterized on the basis of analytical and spectral data. They have been screened for antibacterial activity by agar double dilution method. Some ofthem have significant activity against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
