Abstract
The template condensation reaction of o-aminobenzoic acid with 2,4-pentanedione in the presence of primary aliphatic diamines gave a new type of 15 and 16-membered diamide tetraazamacrocyclic complexes. The mode of bonding and overall geometry of these complexes has been inferred through UV-vis, IR, 1H NMR spectral techniques as well as molar conductance and magnetic moment data. An octahedral geometry is suggested for all complexes except those of copper which were found to be square planar.
