Abstract
Atenolol and indapamide in combination is available as tablet dosage forms in the ratio of 20:1. HPTLC method was developed for analysis of above formulation. Atenolol and indapamide were seperated on the plate coated with silica gel 60G F254 using a mixture of toluene:ethanol:acetone:acetic acid (7:2.5:3:0.3 v/v) as mobile phase. Quantification was carried out by the use of densitometer in absorbance mode at 266 nm. The Rf value of atenolol and indapamide was found to be 0.21 and 0.74, respectively. The per cent recovery was found to be 99.42/100.51 and 99.07/98.65 % for atenolol and indapamide by height by area, respectively. The proposed method was quantitatively evaluated in terms of calibration of concentration range, stability and accuracy. It can be adopted for routine analysis of the formulation.
