Synthesis and Characterization of Lanthanide(III) Perchlorate Complexes of Some Schiff Base Ligands

Abstract
In the present work the lanthanide(III) perchlorate complexes with some Schiff base ligands with the general composition Ln(L)6(ClO4)3 (Ln = La and Sm) (L = 2[N-(benzalidene)amino]-pyridine (BAPy), 2[N-(4´-dimethylaminobenzalidene)amino] pyridine (PBAPy), 2[N-(3-nitrobenzalidene)amino] pyridine (3-NBAPy), and 2[N-(2-hydroxybenzalidene)amino] pyridine (SAPy) were isolated and characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductance, m.w. and spectral data. The coordination number of central metal ion is proposed as six based on the conductive nature of perchlorate ion.
