Abstract
Some new 2-substituted benzimidazoles like 2-(1H-benzo[d]imidazol- 2-yl)benzoic acid (I) and 2-methyl benzimidazole (II) were synthesized. Then the Mannich bases of the above derivatives (I and II) were synthesized with formaldehyde and various secondary amines. The synthesized compounds have been characterized by TLC, elemental analysis, IR and 1H NMR spectroscopy. These compounds were screened for their antiinflammatory, antibacterial and antifungal activities.
