Abstract
A reverse phase HPLC method is described for the determination of cephalexin in pharmaceutical dosage forms. Chromatography was carried out on an ODS column using a mixture of methanol and water (50 : 50 v/v) as the mobile phase at a flow rate of 0.9 mL/min. Benazepril was used as an internal standard and the detection was done at 230 nm. The retention time of the drug was 3.78 min. The method produced linear responses in the concentration range of 0.05–80 μg/mL of cephalexin. The method was found to be applicable for determination of the drug in tablets.
