Abstract

A group of five new benzalacetophenones (L₁-L₅) were synthesized by the condensation of variably substituted aldehydes with acetophenone and acetyl furan, in the presence of 10 % NaOH and ethanol. Further more benzalacetophenones (L₁-L₅) were converted to three series of their imino derivatives (L₁A₁-L₅C₅). The chemical structure of these compounds was characterized by FTIR, EIMS, ¹H NMR,¹³C NMR spectroscopy and CHN analysis.
