Abstract
The solubility action of salicylic acid, acetyl salicylic acid and its metabolite, gentisic acid has been described by spectrophotometry. Drug and metabolite forms 1:1 complex with ferric nitrate. The extinction coefficient of salicylic acid, acetyl salicylic acid and gentisic acid are 1.5403 × 103, 3.8033 × 103 and 2.3856 × 103 L mol-1 cm-1, respectively. On the basis of solu-bility ratio of concentrations in aqueous layer to chloroform layer, the drug and metabolite action have been evaluated.
