Abstract

The reactions of 2-phenylketones 1, 4 and 12 with PBr₅ gave the α-brominated ketones as a regioselectivly and the α,α'-dibrominated ketones. But, the reactions of 2-methylketones 7a-c with PBr₅ gave only the α,α'-dibrominated ketones.
