Abstract
Deprotonation of primary and secondary alkyl 3-substituents of 3-alkyl-1,2-benzisothiazole- 1,1-dioxides was confirmed by capture of the anions derived from the n- and sec-butyl compounds (1 and 2) using methyl iodide, giving modest yields of mixtures of the E- and Z- Nmethyl 3-alkylidene derivatives 4 and 5.
