Abstract
A series of transition metal complexes of N-methyl- and N-ethylacetoacet-
milide isonicotinylhydrazones (L1H2 and L2H2 repectively)
have been synthesized. Characterization of these compounds carried out
mainly by using elemental analyses, magnetic susceptibility measurements
and UV-VIS, IR, 1H NMR spectral studies. IR spectral studies revealed
that the ligands behave as tridendate di- or monoanions and coordinate
through the anilide oxygen and isonicotinyl carbonyl oxygen and
azomethine nitrogen atoms. Thermogravimetric studies of Mn(Il), Co(ll),
Ni(ll) and Cu(ll) complexes of N-methylacetoacctanilide (L1H2) were also
carried out. Antifungal studies of L2H2 and Mn(Il), Co(ll), Ni(Il), Cu(ll)
and Zn(ll) complexes of both the ligands were also carried out.
